TiredHungry is operated by Tired Hungry LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the TiredHungry iOS app and its related app extensions (collectively, the “App”).
If we change how we handle data, we will update this policy and revise the “Last updated” date.

1. Summary
You control your limits. The App uses Apple’s Screen Time APIs to apply limits you configure on your own device.
Most data stays on your device. Limit settings, usage statistics, rewards, and game progress are stored locally in a shared app container on your iPhone or iPad.
Sign in with Apple. We use Apple to sign you in and store an Apple-provided user identifier on your device so the App can recognize your account on that device.
No third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not use third-party ad networks or analytics services (such as Firebase Analytics, Amplitude, or similar) in the App today.
No sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
2. Information we collect and how we use it
2.1 Sign in with Apple
When you sign in, the App uses Sign in with Apple. Apple may ask whether you want to share your name or email. The App currently stores only an Apple-provided user identifier on your device to maintain your signed-in session. We do not persist your name or email address in the App based on the current version.
How we use it: to identify your session on the device and to support account-related features.
2.2 Screen Time and app usage data (on your device)
With your permission, the App uses Apple’s Family Controls, Device Activity, and Managed Settings frameworks to:
Let you select apps and categories to monitor
Apply daily time limits and blocking (“shields”) you configure
Measure usage against those limits
Show statistics and “today’s screen time” in the App
This includes, stored locally on your device:
Your limit configuration (which apps/categories you selected, daily minute limits, and which days limits apply)
Usage data related to your monitored apps and categories (for example, time spent, whether a limit was reached, temporary unlock sessions)
Display names for apps and categories (as provided by Apple’s system or as shown in the App)
Blocked-state and reward state (for example, banked rewards, extension redemptions, usage history entries used inside the App)
Apple processes Screen Time data under its own privacy policies. We access this information only to provide the App’s features on your device. When we refer to “analytics” in the App’s permission text, we mean on-device usage information used to enforce limits and show you stats—not third-party analytics services.
How we use it: to enforce limits, show progress, deliver warnings, and power in-app gameplay (for example, turtle rewards).
2.3 Information you provide in the App
You may optionally provide:
A custom name for your turtle (stored locally on your device)
How we use it: to personalize the App experience.
2.4 Gameplay and progress data (on your device)
The App stores gamification data locally, such as:
Turtle leveling progress (experience, level, fruit-feed counts)
Reward and redemption history used by the App’s mechanics
How we use it: to run the App’s reward and progression features.
2.5 Notifications
If you allow notifications, the App (including its background monitor extension) may send local notifications on your device—for example, to warn you shortly before a daily limit is reached.
How we use it: to alert you about limits you configured.
We do not use notifications for advertising.
2.6 Diagnostic information (on your device)
During development and troubleshooting, the App or its extensions may write diagnostic logs to the same on-device shared storage (for example, scheduling or monitor events). These logs are intended for debugging, remain on your device, and are not transmitted to us automatically.
3. Information we do not collect in the current version
In the version of the App available at the time of this policy:
We do not collect precise location data
We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or calendar
We do not use third-party crash reporting or analytics SDKs
We do not show third-party advertising
We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising
4. Social / Friends features (not active in current TestFlight build)
The App contains code for optional social features (for example, viewing friends and sending friend requests). In the current release configuration, these features are not connected to our servers unless a backend API URL is configured in the app build. When inactive, friend-related actions do not transmit your data to Tired Hungry LLC.
If we enable social features in a future update, we may transmit:
Your Apple user identifier (to associate your account)
Information needed to operate social features (for example, a friend handle you enter, and aggregate extension-use counts—not your per-app or per-category Screen Time totals)
We will update this policy before enabling server-backed social features.
5. How data is stored and shared
5.1 On-device storage
Most App data is stored in an Apple App Group shared container on your device, accessible to the main App and its extensions (monitor, shield, and report extensions). This storage is not encrypted separately by us beyond the protections provided by your device and iOS.
The Apple user identifier is stored in the same on-device shared storage, not in the iOS Keychain.
5.2 App extensions
To enforce limits and show usage, the App installs app extensions that run in separate processes but read and write the same on-device shared data described above. Extensions do not send this data to us by default.
5.3 Service providers
We rely on Apple to provide:
Sign in with Apple
Screen Time / Family Controls infrastructure
App distribution (TestFlight / App Store)
Device operating system services
Apple’s handling of data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
We do not share your personal information with other third parties for their marketing purposes.
5.4 Legal requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, us, or others.
6. Data retention and deletion
On your device: Data persists until you delete it or remove the App.
Deleting the App from your device removes locally stored App data subject to iOS behavior and backups.
Signing out (where available) removes your stored Apple user identifier from the App’s on-device storage but may not delete all other locally stored limit, usage, or gameplay data.
To fully remove App data, delete the App from your device. If you use iCloud or local backups, backup copies may persist according to Apple’s backup policies until those backups are replaced or deleted.
On our servers: In the current version, we do not operate persistent server storage of your Screen Time or limit data. If we introduce server features later, we will describe retention and deletion in an updated policy.
To request help with privacy questions or deletion, contact support@tiredhungry.com.
7. Your choices and permissions
You can:
Decline Sign in with Apple — the App requires sign-in to use its features today.
Decline Screen Time access — without it, core limit and usage features will not work; you can change this later in Settings → Screen Time (wording may vary by iOS version).
Decline notifications — limit-warning notifications will not be delivered.
Change or remove limits — in the App’s settings and onboarding flows.
Because most processing happens on your device, many privacy choices are managed through iOS Settings and in-app controls.
8. Children’s privacy
TiredHungry is designed as a personal Screen Time tool for users managing their own device, not as a parental-control product for monitoring a child’s device on a parent’s behalf.
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, contact us at support@tiredhungry.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it where applicable.
9. International users
If you use the App from outside the United States, your information may be processed on your device and, when applicable, by Apple in accordance with Apple’s policies. By using the App, you understand that information may be processed in countries where Apple or its service providers operate.
Depending on your location, you may have additional rights (see Section 10).
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing.
Because most data is stored locally on your device, you can delete much of it by uninstalling the App. For privacy requests, contact support@tiredhungry.com.
California residents: We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes beyond providing the App.
European Economic Area / UK: Where GDPR applies, our legal bases typically include contract (providing the App), consent (where you grant Screen Time or notification permissions), and legitimate interests (maintaining and improving the App), balanced against your rights.
We will respond to verified requests within the time required by applicable law.
11. Security
We use reasonable measures appropriate to the nature of the data we handle. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Screen Time selections and usage data are sensitive—you should protect your device with a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy at the same URL and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the revised policy.
